About

Dave Maldaner

No doubt about it. Life on the prairie can be hard. It was then and it is now. But the challenges are tempered by a transcendent beauty not to be found any place else on earth.

That's the spirit that infuses the art of David Maldaner. His sculptures and carvings depict lives lived with courage and strength, weathering the battles fought internally and externally.

David's passion and love for prairie and western culture stretches back to his childhood days on a farm in southeastern Alberta. It was a long winding road from his artistic explorations of drawing spiders in his mother's cookbook to the accomplished artist he is today.

Some formal training at the Alberta College of Art and Design and more years back on the farm have given David his foundation in artistic expression. He paints in watercolors, oils and acrylics; does pencil sketches and sculpts in bronze. Each piece accurately refects a time gone by when the land was everything.

Presently, David and his wife Nan, are fulfulling a dream to travel and explore the North American continent in their motorhome.
